After a few years it becomes a genuine challenge to come up with orginal and meanful birthday gifts for the man in your life.
Watch – Check. Cufflinks – Check. Wallet – Check. Posh leather man bag – Check.
I’m out of ideas.
But what my husband loves more than anything is food. And not just food – extremely good food. With excellent service. And an ‘atmosphere’. So for his most recent birthday I booked a table at the renown and ‘posh’ restaurant Oblix, which is handily situated at near the top of the Shard, in London Bridge.
Obviously the view was spectacular. Somehow London looks so much
less dirty more impressive from up high. But aside from that it was honestly one of the best dining experiences of both of our lives. The whole event from start to finish was fantastic. One thing that we were particularly impressed with was the service and attitude of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they really made the experience extra special. It was quite busy and noisy but for me it added a buzz and at no point did we feel rushed to vacate the table or too close to another group.
And the food.. well..
YUM! That there is the squid salad starter, the lobster main and the ‘sweet jar’ pudding. Excellent quality food with fantastic flavour. Our first experience of lobster was a good one!
I’m not going to lie – it’s pricey. But as this was Paul’s main gift I told him he could have whatever he wanted (which he did.. I wasn’t quite expecting him to order lobster but never mind!!!). For a special occasion I didn’t actually begrudge paying a hefty bill for what we got because the service and standard of food was so amazing.
If you are looking for a special place in London for a birthday, anniversary, etc I would recommend Oblix without hesitation.
Booking is essential (I booked 8 weeks in advance and still could only get the late slot!)
