It’s no secret that the universal take over of online shopping has completely revolutionised the high street retailer game. Most brands now have websites, user friendly apps, exclusive online deals and easy delivery options to make ordering their clothing as simple as humanly possible for their customers. And with our busy lives this is what we like! I’m not denying that the ease of buying new items within a few clicks is super convieneient (if a bit dangerous for my bank balance!).

But have you ever thought how handy it would be to be able to browse and compare brands, styles and prices in one place?  Enter Shopcinity, a new app for high street brands which is going to change your online shopping experience.

When I was asked to review this app, I’ll admit, I was sceptical about what yet another fashion app could bring to the table. Hasn’t everything been done already?? It hasn’t. Shopcinity has got features that I’ve never come across before anywhere else. Features I now realise are seriously needed! It’s like the brains behind the app literally got inside the head of an online shopaholic and invented everything they need without them realising that they need it!

I’d like to take you through the basic features of the app and some of my favourite things about it.

The BROWSE function does exactly what it says on the tin. You can select women’s or men’s, clothing or whatever accessories you are looking for and then narrow it down by more categories of item. This was you can see, for example, all the women’s jeans they have from all the brands which are featured on the app. You can easily scroll through the prices and pictures and either purchase then and then or add to your ‘watch list’ – more on that later.

Similar to browse, STORES let’s you look at everything they have got – by store! If you are interested in browsing what a particular brand has to offer this is a good place to do it. At the moment there are not a huge amount of brands on the app but I’m sure there will be more introduced as the app is launched to the public and becomes popular.  Also one of their main retailers seems to be House of Fraser which is great because they sell everything from a range of brands. All bases are covered even at this early stage.

Now, this is where it gets awesome. If you find something you like whilst browsing you can add it to your watch list in just one click. This is then saved for you kind of like the ‘basket’ on other apps. However, and now for the clever part, if you leave it there for a bit you will get notifications from Shopcinity about your item. For example:

I placed these two items on my watch list and within a day I had notifications saying that they had found similar products at a cheaper price elsewhere. And they were genuinely similar as well. Also you get notifications when your watched items are reduced in price or go into the sale! Amazing! Your own personal bargain hunter! It really is very clever.

But the TAG ME function is the cleverest of all! I wasn’t sure if it would be accurate but it really is! The idea: you’re out shopping and see something you like on a manaquin. You snap a picture of it using tag me and Shopcinity will give you a list of similar garments from different retailers! It also works if you see something you like online – just enter the URL.  I tried this out with one of my dresses to see if it worked and here is the proof that this app is a total fashionista!

All I put in was a picture of the dress, no description or information is needed, and the app recognised the colour, length and style to offer me very similar examples of other dresses. I really think this function is so handy. Imagine you saw a stunning dress in the window of a designer store which was way out of your price range: simply snap a pic, tag it and Shopcinity will come up with high street alternatives for you!

Overall, I rate this app very highly. I think it is very easy friendly, a nice design and works quickly and doesn’t over complicate things. Most importantly it is something which is genuinely useful that (to my knowledge) you can’t get anywhere else! To get a great online shopping experience all in one place – I think it’s brilliant.

I was absolutely delighted to receive this beautiful red rain coat and matching umbrella from Hunter’s new Autumn/Winter ‘Core Concept’ collection last week. I love Hunter’s Wellington boots and have worn them for festivals and Autumn walks for years. Saying this I had never tried their clothing or other products before.

The colour of the jacket is this amazing scarlet red so I couldn’t wait to get out on a grey autumn morning and shoot some contrast shots with the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich as our background.

So, down to business. The new Core Concepts collection concentrates on stylish and versatile rainwear which is functional but also looks fabulous. The jacket is the Women’s Original Vinyl Smock and is available in a range of bold and striking colours. I really like the cut and style of the jacket; particularly the ‘skirt style’ bottom of the coat which is very flattering and the slightly nipped in waist. The pockets are also very streamlined and attractive, especially with the iconic Hunter label on the left hand side.  These features make the coat more aesthetically appealing than the average rain mack and means I would choose to wear it for fashion as well as function. The red colour is super striking too.

However, that’s not to say that the coat is not functional – it really is! The smock is totally waterproof, lightweight and thin whilst being warm at the same time. The neck and bottom of the coat have toggles which enable the wearer to tighten these areas in case of heavy rain and the hood has a practical peak at the front which would allow rain to run off the front without getting the face wet.  These little features speak volumes for the quality of the coat and I have no doubt it would withstand the windiest and wettest country walks!

You can view Hunter’s Original Vinyl Smock in a range of colours here.

I’m ashamed to admit that I have never invested in a ‘decent’ umbrella; having always been caught out in the rain and just having to run from shop to shop trying not to get soaked. However, after trialling the Original Moustache Bubble Umbrella on a typical rainy Autumn day I am totally converted! I can be seen here happily enjoying the view of Canary Wharf across the Thames, staying totally dry whilst the rain pours down.  The ‘bubble’ style of this umbrella works by incasing your whole head and shoulders to keep your upper body totally dry and doing a great job of protecting the rest of your body too.

As well as being really good at it’s job this umbrella is really stylish and I’m loving it’s matte finish red ‘moustache’ design on the edges and the handle is finished with a really attractive matte red too.  The clear section enables you to see through the umbella well but the red trim gives it a bit of style and colour. These umbrellas are also available in a range of colours to match the Core Concept coats and boots.

You can view and purchase the Moustache Bubble Umbrellas here.

As you can see we then had a characteristic British total change in the weather and within an hour the Autumn sun shine was making an appearance. I wanted to illustrate how appropriate the jacket is even if it isn’t raining. It is stylish and warm enough to wear just as a lightweight coat for any weather of occasion.  Plus the oranges and greens of the foliage were just too beautiful to pass by without taking some pictures. This time of year can be stunning in nature.

If you would like to view the rest of the Hunter Core Concept collection you can do so here.

Okay, I admit it. I have expensive taste in body wash! I love, love, loveeeee Molton Brown (all their products) and have a particular soft spot for their shower gels. The flavours are so yummy, they all smell amazing, lather up so much and are such gorgeous colours. Generally all round amazing products.

They arn’t cheap as far as body wash goes and since I’m a student I wouldn’t usually splash out on such a thing. However, my lovely mum has got this cute little thing where she always buys me a set of their minis for my birthday or Christmas because she knows how much I love them! I like to have lots of different ones so I can chop and change and the mini sets usually have about 12 small bottles of gel which lasts me a fair amount of time! Basically, I’m sorted for shower gels!

I recieved this set for my birthday and I wanted to tell you about my favourites.

How cute do they look lined up in colour order by the way?? Amazing decoration for my bathroom if nothing else!

Pink Pepperpod

Obviously I have a soft spot for this one because it is bright pink and I think it looks sassy as! It’s also a really lovely fruity smell and it gives off a really tropical aroma. The blend of fiery pink pepper and ginger make it kind of spicy which is really refreshing in a body wash. Great for waking you up in the morning.

Coco & Sandalwood

Coconut anything is my absolute favourite. I love it. The smell remind me of holiday so much it transports me in my head to a beach with a cocktail in hand. Plus, coconut has so many amazing properties to keep skin soft and moisturised. Soothing on the skin and nice for a relaxing bath.

Gingerlily

My all time favourite Molton Brown product is the Gingerlily. I adore the smell so much I have also purchased the body cream. It just smells divine – of lilies obviously so it’s quite a flowery smell but I don’t find it over powering. It’s an exotic flowery product with a hint of spicy ginger.

Do you like Molton Brown or any other luxury bath products? What’s your favourite?

Now that Autumn is well underway I wanted to share a new outfit which I purchased the other day which I think is super cute for this season. I’ve been on the look out for Autumnal clothes recently because now I’ll be working in a school I’ll need to dress semi-smart everyday and it’s nice to have some things which are warm to wear but that look nice. When I as a student I used to retreat to my jeans and hoodies everytime it started to get a bit cold but those days are over!

There are some really nice Autumnal clothes in virtually all the high street shops at the moment – but these items came from Primark and H&M.

Burgundy Swallows Shirt

This is a really light shirt but I like it because it’s got a really practical sleeve length for school and just general wear – between full length and three quarter length. It’s a really nice burgundy/brown colour which will go with anything and I love the pattern with the swallows on it.

H&M.

Tartan Black and White Knit.

This is my favourite item that I bought and I’m not gunna lie I’ve worn it pretty much constantly since I bought it! It’s half cardie half blanket, basically a cosy blanket with arm holes! What’s not to love?? I really like the tartan pattern as well.

Primark.

Dolly Shoes.

You can’t go wrong with these Primark dolly shoes so I got a pair in both beige and black as they both look nice with the outfit. I find that even though they are pretty much the cheapest flats around they are also the most comfortable! Some more expensive brands blister my wet so much, but these are dead soft. And if they wear out a bit quicker than other brands who cares?! I’ll get a new pair!

Primark.

Suede Mini Skirt.

Lastly, my favourite peice of this outfit. This skirt is a really nice suede material and looks super cute with a pair of thick knit black tights. The colour looks slightly different in real life; it’s more yellowy beige rather than brown – and the buttons all down the front are such a cute feature. I’m looking forward to getting a lot of wear out of it this Autumn.

H&M.

So there you have it, my new Autumn outfit on a budget! Have you bought anything new for this season?

I am in love with French/Dutch braids. Unfortunately, I really can’t do them on myself! I trawl Pinterest and pin to my hearts content but when I try in front of the mirror – it just doesn’t happen. My fingers don’t bend that way!

Because I’ve got long hair which is quite thick I’m lucky in the sense that some of my more-able friends like to practice styles on me! I can’t take credit for any of these, they were all done by an incredibly talented work friend, but these are all me and I wanted to share the styles because some of them are soooo pretty.

Braid across the front, side and into a bun. I like this one because it’s a nice up do and looks kind of ‘little house on the prairie’. It’s one braid starting at the front of the head and crossing over round the side.

Festival plaits. Classic! Great for the gym or festivals, make you look kind of cool.

My favourite! This was a backwards French braid (starting at the bottom of the head) which is done with the model (me) with their head upside down the whole time. It looks amaaaazing from the back.

Side braid. Or Katnis braid! Love it.

Another favourite – a simple everyday look with one fat braid across the front. So pretty!

Can you do any exotic braid styles? Can you teach me??
