Don’t you just love getting your hair done?! I honestly enjoy going to the hairdressers so much. I love the feeling of being pampered, having my hair washed and styled and, even though I only ever have a trim, I love how my hair feels when it’s freshly cut. I always think it makes you feel so much better.

So, when I was asked to visit new Rush hair salon in the beautiful Wimbledon Village for a haircut I was only too happy to attend. Not only for the above reasons but also because I generally love Rush salons and I have always found them to give an excellent service. In fact, my local Rush salon in Greenwich was actually responsible for saving me from a hair colour PURPLE DISASTER 5 days before my wedding day (no, I’m not making this up), but that’s a story for another day.

On this occasion I was booked in for a haircut and blowdry at Rush Wimbledon Village. The salon itself is situated in the rather lovely and upmarket area of Wimbledon Village; a short walk from the main town and train station at Wimbledon. I made a morning of it and as it was a nice day spent an hour window shopping in the cute gifty shops and had a coffee in one of the quaint independent cafes. Rush is located perfectly in the heart of the village.

When it was time for my appointment I was greeted at reception and showed to my seat quickly. The salon inside is really stylish and has definitely got that ‘new’ feel. I’m obsessed with the stunning crystal chandelier they’ve got! Once seated I was delighted to be presented with magazines and my choice of drink (apple juice), but not only that – the drink came accompanied by popcorn, biscuits and Lindor chocolates! Amazing! It was a fabulous touch which will really make customers feel extra special.

My stylist Zoe came over to see me quickly and chatted to me about what I wanted to do with my hair and how much would need to come off the ends. Although I like to keep my hair long, I also love getting rid of all the dead ends so that my hair looks fresh and healthy. Zoe was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable in the new salon straight away.

So, after feeling super well looked after and chatting through how I wanted my hair cut and blow dried with Zoe I was taken through to have my hair washed. My favourite part! Is there anything more relaxing in the world?! Well, the relaxation is taken to the next level at Rush, with the hair wash room being dark with twinkly lights, relaxing music and reclining chairs that massage you! Bliss. Zoe talked me through the shampoo options and asked me what type of products I like to use. She explained she would be using Shu Umeura products on my hair because they use rich natural oils to moisturise and give life back to the hair – something my locks were in desperate need of! Zoe also explained the different treatment options which I could add as an extra to my hair cut. I chose a deep moisturising and repairing treatment.

After the hair wash it was time for my cut. I was only having a simple style – a few inches off the ends and some graduated layers around my face (my usual) but Zoe took her time and did an excellent job. I was so impressed with how she dried my hair too. I asked for it with a natural curl and she blow-dried my hair in sections, each with a loose, bouncy curl and I have to say it looked amazing! The curls even held for the next day or too and, due to the treatment she used, that ‘shiny, new hair’ feeling stayed with me for several washes afterwards. I left feeling a million dollars, so much so I even took some selfies of my hair when I got home!

Overall, I loved my experience at the salon and I would highly recommend it. I was very impressed with the salon itself, the friendliness of the staff and the excellent service I received, as I have been with all Rush salons I have visited before. I had a great time chatting to Zoe who was so friendly and an amazing hair dresser. Everything from the décor of the interior to the professionalism of the staff made for a first class salon experience.

You can visit the salon’s website for more information and to book here.

Where is your favourite hairdresser? Have you got a regular or do you change it up?

April has been a full-on month for me! It started well; the easter holidays and a lovely trip to Montenegro! But the last few weeks have been MAD and I’ve been a bit stressed and slacking on my blog and videos. Here’s a look at what we got up to this month – in pictures!

I received my gorgeous GLITZBOX delivery and this little beauty!

First day in Montenegro.

Sun worshipper.

Kotor Old Town.

Got my hair done at Rush Wimbledon Village.

Filmed making these gorgeous chocolate Cornflake cakes!

Had an amazing time visiting family in the new forest – such a pretty place

Finished off the month instyle with a lovely trio to the #BWBLaunch event in town!

What did April hold for you?

Hands up if you’re a sucker for anything that sparkles and glitters?!

I’m like a magpie; I love my glitz and I can often be seen drooling over expensive jewellery in shop windows. However, for someone who loves it so much – I don’t actually own much jewellery. It’s not the sort of thing I’d ever buy for myself, so I only really get new pieces when I get them as gifts. In terms of my taste, I’ve always been one for more expensive pieces that I wear over and over, rather than constantly updating my costume jewellery collection. A nice watch, Pandora bracelet and my wedding and engagement rings and that’s pretty much me done. So, when I was given the opportunity to review GLITZBOX; a service which enables you to change up your jewellery style monthly with stylishly designed pieces I was absolutely thrilled! It sounded right up my street.

So, what is GLITZBOX?

GLITZBOX is a luxury jewellery rental subscription service. In a nutshell, customers pay a monthly subscription fee and receive a beautiful box with 3 items of jewellery per month to wear at their leisure. The idea is to connect women with new and exciting designers who are making gorgeous jewellery, and enabling them to change their glitz up every month! Once the month is up, you simply pop the pieces back in your box and send it back with the free-post label. OR if (like me) you fall in love with one or more of your jewellery pieces you can fill in a form inside the box and the price will be changed to your account minus your ‘glitz credit’ (more on that later). Easy peasy.

GLITZBOX offer 3 different subscription options depending on your style.

As you can see the Glitz Credit that you receive towards any purchases varies depending on your subscription. Additionally, you can get extra credit for referring friends. Once you have selected whether you want gold, silver or mixed you also fill out a ‘style quiz’ which helps the GLITZ team to choose pieces that you will love!

What was in my box?

I trailed a gold box and indicated in my style quiz that I prefer boho style jewellery. Here’s what I received:

Mei Li Rose – Delicate gold necklace

How beautiful?! I love the simple style of this necklace. I just adore the shape and how delicate it is. I really enjoyed wearing it.

Tea and Tequila – Boho chunky bracelet

So, I admit, I loved this bracelet so much I actually bought it! I just love the gemstones and how colourful it is. It’s absolutely gorgeous and just the sort of thing I would buy for myself.

Sharon Mills – Gem stone earrings

These earrings are gold with a stone set in them. Out of all the pieces this is probably the one I wouldn’t choose for myself as I don’t normally wear any more that tiny studs! But I really like how these looked on me and maybe it will persuade me to branch out in my earring style! (NOTE all jewellery is sterilised before it’s sent out).

What did I think?

I absolutely love the idea of GLITZBOX, for any lady who loves jewellery and experimenting with new styles then I think it’s an amazing service. It’s a fresh idea, something different that I’ve never come across before. Obviously, it’s a monthly payment which I would definitely consider as a ‘luxury item’ and it may not always be affordable – but the great thing is that you can cancel anytime. I love the element of the style quiz and I think this is something which is really unique for a subscription service, and it clearly works because the pieces I received were bang on in terms of my personal style! The whole process is also remarkably easy; the box is delivered without hassle, it contains a calendar letting you know when you need to return it buy, all the info and prices about your jewellery AND the returns are free. I think it’s fabulous.

You can check out GLITXBOX’s website here for more information.

*Please note: I was sent this box for reviewing purposes, however the opinions are my own and I truly believe in this brand and what it offers*

Hey there lovelies!

I’ve got something very exciting to show you today. If you have read my blog before you may know that I’m really obsessed with skincare products. It’s kind of my ‘thing’. I know most bloggers obsess over makeup and the newest cosmetics ranges but I could leave makeup any day for luxurious skincare products which give great results! You can’t beat a clear, fresh face in my opinion!

So, today I wanted to tell you about a new product which I was sent by Skintifique; the Cleanser P.

I hadn’t heard of Skintifique before, so naturally I was curious about their brand and products. They are an international brand, and from browsing their website and social media I have to say I was really impressed. They really know their skincare, and by that I mean that all of their products are driven by science and results. Something else that struck me was that all of their products are 100%  pure and non-allergenic, they are even suitable for people who suffer from extremely sensitive skin or problems like eczema or psoriasis. As an eczema sufferer myself, this was something I was really impressed by as I often find high street cleansers can flair up the patches where I get it on my face.

The packaging intrigued me too. It’s definitely not a pink, fluffy packaged product. The brand is simple, clean, with a slightly clinical feel which matches their ‘science driven’ brand ethos.

I could go on about the ingredients and the fact that it’s paraben free, fragrance free, no nasties and generally pure as anything; but what you really want to know is how it feels to use it and if it works.

Well, yes it does. It’s a micellar water, which means it’s a cleanser which removes makeup, impurities and traces of pollution from your skin. The Cleanser P is excellent at removing my makeup, even stubborn eye makeup, and doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. It also feels lovely on my face, not oily at all which I have found with other micellar waters, and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean. In the short term, I’d say it’s a fantastic cleanser for any skin type, but particularly for sensitive or reactive skin. It’s also a quick, easy way to cleanse morning and night with no fuss, which is what I like.

In the long term, I can honestly say that my skin has been clearer. Even more than that, I have noticed a difference in how my skin feels in regards to sensitivity. As I said, I have sensitive skin particularly on my cheeks, and I often find that after cleansing with a regular cleanser my skin feels ‘tight’ or a bit tingly. The Cleanser P has removed this feeling completely and my skin feels less dry and irritated.

The cleanser is priced just under £14 which, although more than a drug-store branded cleanser, I don’t feel is over the top for a results driven skincare brand like this, and I feel it’s competitive within their sector. If you would like more details about the cleanser, or to order a Cleanser P for yourself click here.

One of my New Years resolutions for 2017 was to ‘get into yoga’ – whatever that means. I’ve been to the odd class before with friends but I’ve never sustained it for long enough to see any improvements or benefits. Lately I’ve been seeing toned women on Instagram doing headstands and various other tricky looking poses and I thought ‘I want me some of that’.

In January Paul and I (yes I dragged my husband along too!) started attending a weekly yoga class at our gym. We were lucky because our local gym has a brilliant yoga teacher who runs a really excellent mixed ability class and she’s fantastic about helping you get the very best out of your practice. As much as I am enjoying it, however, I would say yoga definitely does not come naturally to me! I’m a gym bunny, I love working out and lifting weights and I’m very naughty and very rarely stretch afterwards. Consequently, my flexibility is at around zero and I can’t even touch my toes! Now, a few months in I am loving regular yoga and I am starting to see the benefits, but I thought I would share with you a few things that you might find tricky as a ‘non-yogi’ like me trying to take up this hobby!

First up, let’s get out of the way. Even if you think you are fit, you are not yoga fit.

Before I started yoga classes I considered myself a moderately fit and kind of ‘sporty’ person. I thought I was quite strong, I can run a bit, I generally enjoy exercise so I kind of naively thought I was take to yoga pretty easily. Let me tell you; I may have thought I was strong, but I am NOT yoga strong. A few seconds in some of the poses and I was wobbling all over the place, sweating and breathing heavily whilst the rest of the class look serene. Yoga seems to just use muscles that you never use at any other time when working out. It is an amazing workout because it hits cardio, strength training and core stability all in one session. But, if you are new to it like me, don’t expect to take to it naturally.

Also, it hurts the next day.

The morning after my first yoga class I tried to sit up in bed and my body just wasn’t working. The aching was like nothing I’ve ever experienced! After a good training session it’s normal for the section of the body you have been training to ache but after yoga it was like my entire body was hurting. Good news however, after about 15 weekly classes I can confirm that the morning-after pain never again reaches the heights of the first session. I think it was just my body having a tantrum for putting it through something so unfamiliar and difficult!

They make it look easy.

I have re evaluated my initial goal of nailing the Insta-Yoga-Headstand. I can confirm that 15 weeks in and I am still NO WHERE NEAR a successful headstand! It takes time, really consistent practice and incredible core strength to do most tricky yoga poses. Right now I’m still working on touching my toes. But I am getting closer!

It might involve singing.

Yoga is a spiritual practice at it’s heart. Unbeknown  to me, it is quite usual for a yoga class to all close their eyes and belt out a couple of ‘Ohms’ at the end of a class! I love it, but just to pre warn you as I was slightly bewildered at my first class.

You will probably become addicted.

Despite all of the aches and wobbling – I am now a yoga addict. My Tuesday nights are not complete without an hour spent upside down! Not only have I seen an improvement in my core strength and flexibility, but also I feel like it really reenergises me and helps me feel calm. After a long day at work sometimes I umm and ahh about going, but afterwards I feel like the day’s stresses have melted away! I have even noticed a decrease in tension headaches since I have been going. I am determined to continue practicing yoga and get better, stronger and DO THAT HEADSTAND GODDAMMIT!

Are you a yogi? Or considering taking it up? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
