I would describe my interior design style as very eclectic. I like a lot of things in a lot of different colours and styles; not much really ‘matches’ or follows a theme. However, looking around the other day I noticed that without really realising it I have build up quite a collection of wildlife inspired decor. I love animals, so I suppose it is only right that they have began to invade my home. And since we are in rented and not able to have any pets really these little buddies are the best I can do for now.

I thought I’d introduce a few of my animal influences and how I came to own them:

Rubber Duck Collection – Various shops

Bathroom

I really love these guys – they make me smile every time I catch sight of them when I’m brushing my teeth! I went through a phase of collecting them for a while. I love how colourful they are and they really jazz up our white bathroom. I can’t remember where I got all of them individually but the far right one is from Harrods! So he certainly wasn’t cheap! They are a really good fun decoration though.

Crystal Bird Bedside Lamp -Wilkinson

Bedroom

Again, I bought this when I moved into my place for the first time. It’s sooo pretty,  the crystals are beautiful and it really goes with my vintage theme in the bedroom. Wilko are really good for home and interiors – I seem to remember I picked this up for about £20 and I’ve had it a good few years. It’s really lovely as a bedside lamp too because it gives out a really soft level of lighting, perfect for reading before bed.

Turtle Incense Stick Burner – Gift

Living Room

This was a gift from my mum and I’ve know idea where she got it from but I had to include it in this because it’s just gorgeous. Our living room is majority white and minimalistic (the joys of rented property) but I like to add pops of strong, bright colours to liven it up a bit – see my post on this here. This turtle is perfect because it’s a really nice bright turquoise colour which looks really striking on my white surfaces. I love the turtle too, I’ve been lucky enough to dive with giant sea turtles 3 times in the wild so they are very special to me.

Black and White Ornamental Elephant – Habitat

Living Room

Elephants are a big part of our lives and hold a special place in our hearts and our relationship. Elephants have always been my favourite animal – I spent time in an elephant sanctuary in Thailand with them and have always loved them. I also love what they represent; strength, wisdom and peacefulness. They are such amazing animals. A few years ago, long before we got engaged, Paul and I decided to get a matching tattoo as a symbol of our ‘forever’ commitment and we decided on a beautiful elephant design. So elephants have become an important symbol for us. We got this as a housewarming gift when we moved into our apartment and it’s gorgeous. I love the cream and grey colours, and it makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Elephant and Turtle Cuddly Toys! – Gifts

Living Room

Yes – I’m still a child inside and I still have cuddly toys on display! But these arnt worn out teddies they are ‘luxury’ toys which I have taken really good care of and are used for decorative purposes. They were both gifts – and are my favourite animals! I love the turtle particularly because it’s so colourful and my brother bought it back from Sri Lanka for me.

What kind of home decor style do you like? Do you have much wildlife influence in your home?

So, I have a bit of a confession. I’ve already admitted to being super low maintenance chick (read my post here) but it’s time to CONFESS beauty bloggers that I only own 7 lipsticks.

Whaaaaaaaaat.

I know, I know, BUT hear me out. I don’t like waste, clutter or spending money and each of these lip colours has a very specific purpose and place in life. I use all of them. And I love all of them. And honestly, I don’t need anymore

So here is what has made the cut to join my very exclusive club which is; my lipstick collection:

MY EVERYDAY NUDE

This is a lovely, neutral pinky brown which is really good for everyday/ work or a natural makeup look. I love the consistency because it’s really moisturising and has a fairly decent staying power – although does fade off a bit after a few hours.

MY HOLIDAY LIPSTICK

Ola senorita! This cute coral is perfect for holidays and looks gorge with a bit of a tan (or bronzer). As with all MAC lippys it’s good quality and lasts for ages.

MY BRIDAL LIPSTICK / 2ND CHOICE NUDE

I bought this for my bridal makeup and I’ve fallen in love with it and now alternate it as a second choice for my everyday nude. Although it is so similar in name it’s actually quite different to Angelic; much more pink and girly. I love it.

MY FEELING A BIT JAZZY LIPSTICK

As you can see, this lipstick has been well used and well worn at the bottom of my clutch bag. So well worn in fact the name has rubbed off and I don’t know the same of it! Anyway, it’s a baby pink lipstick which I usually layer up with a bit of gloss when it’s paaaarttyyyy time.

MY FEELING VERY JAZZY LIPSTICK

Only used with caution. This is very bright. I classify it as a lipstick because the colour is so strong but it comes in a sort of gloss format. You apply it and it dries matte and really, really strong. It looks fab when wanting to make a lip statement on a night out.

MY RED ONE

Everyone’s got to have a bright red lippy right?! I don’t wear it much, but I do love this one. It’s a really deep red but the best thing is that it stays put all night and doesn’t smudge at all! Perfect red lips every time.

So, as you can see, they all know their place! And I don’t need too much space in my makeup drawer for them. Generally, I don’t like to have too much choice in term of makeup colours, knowing where I stand with my special few is much more up my street. Plus, they are tried and tested and I love them all – so why deviate?!

How many lipsticks do you own?

I like collecting things. I’m definitely not a hoarder; I’m actually really good at having a massive clear out and selling a load of belongings at a car boot. I don’t have lots of belongings (in fact friends are often surprised with how little I have) but I do have a few small collections which I consider worthwhile.

I have already posted about my crystal collection, I collect fridge magnets from places I’ve visited and I collect the animated Disney DVDs. I love them all and once I had a few I couldn’t stop. They are truly the best films ever made!

The sad thing for most 90s babies is that we probably had virtually every Classic Disney movie on video as children, but these are now rendered completely useless and were donated or binned! I am now having to re purchase all the films I adored as a kid in DVD format. I sure hope that doesn’t get replaced with some other technology because I cannot replace them all again!

Anyway, I’m doing ok. So far I have:

Dumbo, The Jungle Book, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocohuntus, Alice in Wonderland (live action version), Find Nemo, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Malificent, Tangled, Frozen.

I am challenging myself not to spend fortunes on this collection. I could do online and just order them all but that’s no fun! I only buy them from charity shops and car boot sales, so hunting them down is fun! I still need to track down a few of the old classics which, especially the popular ones, are quite hard to come buy! My top wish list ones at the moment are Beauty and the Beast, Hercules and Peter Pan.

Does anyone else collect Disney movies? How are you doing?!
