Hey there lovelies!

Today I wanted to tell you about a very exciting launch event that I attended last week. I was absolutely delighted to be asked by Danielle, the lovely founder of ground breaking new skincare product OhMySkin (OMS) to attend the event as a model to demonstrate the product and tell the audience about how my skin felt afterwards. I was super excited about not only being invited to such a brilliant launch event but also to try a product I had heard so many amazing things about!

The launch night was held in Walton on Thames, at Bridgeman’s luxury furniture showroom; the perfect backdrop for such an elegant event. When I arrived I was blown away by how beautiful the set up looked and the amazing decorations. The product was displayed pride of place of course which looked absolutely fantastic.

So what is the product?

OhMySkin is a new and exciting skincare brand which has burst onto the scene with it’s revolutionary Exfoliating and Resurfacing Mask for all skin types. The unique formula contains natural ingredients and active enzymes which remove dead skin cells and brighten the skin in a non-harmful way without using any microbeads or acids which are so often found in high street products. The mask is really flexible in terms of use and can be applied and removed as a ‘flash mask’ or left on for half an hour. One of the things that I find so unique about the product is Danielle’s inspiring vision for it. She told her guests at the event that she came up with the idea when, when she was working full time, she didn’t have the time to attend salons for expensive exfoliation treatments; the idea of creating a product which can give you professional results in the comfort of your own home was born! If you think you’d miss the pampering aspect of a salon – Danielle has thought of that too! The mask is sold with a luxurious Derma Cloth to remove the mask and maximise results as well as a salon headband to pamper yourself! It also comes with a 10x magnifying mirror (yes – you heard that right! And believe me what I saw in there was pretty shocking!!) which is so important to really see your skin and identify problem areas, and then to follow your journey with OMS and see the results for yourself!

Also, how gorgeous is the branding?! I am in love with that amazing green colour. So eye catching.

What I thought

Using the product for the first time on the evening of the launch event I was genuinely so impressed with it for several reasons. Firstly, I have very sensitive skin and I often find that exfoliation masks feel slightly ‘stingy’ on my face but OMS was gentle and worked wonders for my sensitivity. The only sensation was a slight warming feel which was really nice. Danielle applied the mask to my skin during the event to demonstrate how easy it is to apply and lots of people commented how, as it was clear, you actually couldn’t tell I had it on! Having left the mask on for 30 minutes and spritzing it with water to reactivate the enzymes I washed the mask off using the Derma cloth. I was really impressed with this too, the cloth is a really interesting texture which has a thick weave to it, it’s brilliant as it gave my skin that ‘super clean’ feeling which I love!  After removing the mask I could see that my skin was glowing softer and looked brighter, after just one application of the product I was really amazed with the immediate impact!

Something else that I was really impressed by was how Danielle has put a lot of thought into making her product eco-friendly. Microbeads and other ingredients found in many products can have a negative impact on the environment and OMS avoids all of this as well reducing packaging wastage by being totally refillable!

I was lucky enough to receive an OMS pack to take home and I have been using the mask on a weekly basis since the event a few weeks ago. I am so pleased to report that it really works and the results for me have been amazing! I am so pleased to have found this product was delighted to be part of the exciting launch!

The launch event was an amazing success and everyone loved the product – I got such a buzz from just being there! I was honoured to share my opinions and first impressions of the product with the guests which was easy – it’s not difficult to talk about something that you like so much! Danielle also spoke about her product with such passion it was really inspiring for me. I had a brilliant time and met some really lovely and interesting local ladies.

Big thank you to Ingrid Weel for the gorgeous images.

I used to eat and drink A LOT of dairy products. I mean, more than normal. Yes, everyone likes cheese, but I would have a huge bowl of cereal with milk every morning, cheese sandwiches almost daily, pasta piled high with cheese and yogurt. Also (and this is embarrassing to admit but it was in a bid to beat insomnia okay) I used to take a mug of warm milk to bed with me every night.

In January this year me and my husband embarked on a mission to get fit, healthy and slim for our wedding. We gave up all junk food, took up exercise and sort of threw in going dairy free on a bit of a whim to just see what happened. And I’m not exaggerating. It’s changed our lives! Here’s how:

  1. I’ve got more energy. I get up much much easier in the morning and don’t get that slump in the mid afternoon either.
  2. I don’t get bloated anymore. I think we all know that an excess of dairy products can cause bloating and tummy troubles – for me this has been non existent since I gave it up.
  3. I sleep better. Truth be told I can’t tell if this is the dairy free or the healthy lifestyle in general as the two have coincided. Nevertheless, since I quit I’ve found one been sleeping much better.
  4. I’m less emotional. Now, whether you believe me or not I swear this is true! I’ve heard that diary (especially milk) contains a lot of hormones and, don’t quote me on the science, this can in turn effect ones emotions and (ahem) levels of… shall we say calmness. I will be the first to admit that I used to be neurotic on a good day and shit crazy on a bad one. Ask my husband! Since quitting dairy I seem to have – shall we say – mellowed a bit. And I tend to cry a bit less at nothing. Works for me!
  5. Weight loss! I cut out sugar and most fatty foods as well so the dairy is just a part of my weight loss journey but there is no denying that dairy products do contain fat and are calorific. All in all I have lost 2 1/2 stone this year and I’m sure going dairy free has contributed to this.
  6. My skin has improved. This has got to be connected to the hormones too right?? I’ve noticed a huge inrpovement in my skin from it being overall clearer and more glowy to less breakouts and reduced redness in my cheeks.
  7. It’s improved my psoriasis. I am lucky in the sense that my psoriasis is mild and I only really get it in hidden places like my hairline and neck. However, it skill bugs me and isuncomfortable. Since I stopped consuming dairy I have found that it has improved a lot and practically gone away. I have done a bit of research and found that going dairy free is often recommended for reducing skin conditions like eczema, and since they are similar I guess it would be the same for psoraosis.
  8. Bye bye migraines! Now I’m not going to pretend that they’ve completed gone – I do still get the occasional migraine. But I used to really suffer from bad ones at least once a month. Dairy is a well known trigger for migraines and I’ve had way less since I quit. In fact, since I went dairy free in January I’ve probably only had 2 migraines which is a significant  improvement.

These are benefits that I, personally, have found and by no means are scientifically proven or designed to persuade you to quit dairy! But if anyone is considering it for health reasons or otherwise then the above might be useful. I wouldn’t go back to dairy now because it’s had such profound effects of my health and wellbeing – even though I will miss that cheese board at chistmas!!

Have you given up dairy? How are you finding it?
